How to use a UPS properly?

A UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) can only fully deliver its value when used properly.

First and foremost, the installation environment for a UPS must be carefully selected. It should be placed in a well-ventilated and dry area, with measures taken to prevent dust accumulation. High temperatures and humidity can shorten the service life of its internal components, while excessive dust may even lead to short-circuit faults.

During operation, load control is crucial. Every UPS has a specified rated load range, and the actual load should be maintained between 50% and 80% of this rated capacity. Neither prolonged light-load operation nor overloading is advisable: light loading reduces the UPS’s conversion efficiency, whereas overloading imposes excessive strain on the internal inverter and may trigger protective shutdowns.

Routine maintenance is also indispensable. If the UPS will not be used for an extended period, it should be recharged every 2–3 months to prevent battery depletion. Additionally, if a UPS displays a fault indicator, do not attempt to disassemble or repair it yourself; instead, contact the brand’s professional after-sales service personnel.
